Transportul cu troleibuz in Chieti (54.506 locuitori) a fost inaugurat in 16 iulie 1950, fiind dat in folosinta un singur traseu: Madonna delle Piane - stazione FS - centro citta  - Sant'Anna.

Starea precara a retelei si a vehiculelor a facut ca transportul cu troleibuze sa fie suspendat in 1992.

In data de 26 septembrie 2009 transportul cu troleibuze a fost reactivat, folosind vechile troleibuze. Pt. o scurta perioada.

Repunerea in functiune a fost realizata, de fapt, incepand cu data de 6 mai 2013, traseul 1 fiind prelungit cu 3 statii.



Probe, in 15 aprilie 2013.

Parcul actual de troleibuze:

- 7 unitati Menarini 201 FLU TIBB

Fabricate in anul 1985, cu RK in 2009.

- 5 unitati Van Hool A330 T

Fabricate in 2013.

Incepand cu 1 iulie, noile troleibuze Van Hool vor fi si ele la strada, disponibile pt. pasageri.

Harta 2016, preluata de pe transphoto.ru

Este figurata reteaua de troleibuz pana la Via San Martino, nefolosita. Reteaua apare pe Google Earth inca din anul 2008 (retea noua, cu componente Elektroline)! Probabil ca nu sunt suficiente troleibuze.
