Pe 27 septembrie a avut loc la Pliensauvorstadt ceremonia simbolică de deschidere a lucrărilor pentru extinderea rețelei de troleibuze cu baterii Esslingen.

Extinderi planificate:

- Pliensauvorstadt (09.2023 - 12.2023): Stuttgarter Straße, Eberhard-Bauer-Straße, Weilstraße, linie aeriană în direcția ieșire din oraș

- Zollberg (primăvara 2024): limita districtului Nellingen de la stația Nellinger Linde prin Zollbergstrasse până la Jusiweg - linie aeriană în direcția orașului

- Esslinger Norden (jumătatea anului 2024): de la Neckar Forum prin Mülbergerstrasse, Wielandstrasse, Rotenackerstrasse până la stația Eugen-Bolz-Strasse - linie aeriană în direcția ieșire a orașului, inclusiv stația de redresare

- Altstadtring (toamna 2024 - mijlocul anului 2025): de la intersecția Maille prin Kiesstraße, Grabbrunnenstraße, Ebershaldenstraße, Augustinerstraße, Berliner Straße până la Schelztor - linie aeriană în ambele sensuri
